Who’s got the cutest pet in Tipton County? Our third annual contest is now live

By Echo Day on October 29, 2019

Who’s got the cutest pet in Tipton County?

A contest sponsored by The Leader will crown a winner and a 2020 calendar will feature the pet with the most votes.

The grand prize winner will also receive a “Pamper Me” gift basket with various items for a pet and pet owner.

“We are looking forward to this year’s pet calendar contest because who can resist adorable photos of animals?” said Leader publisher Matthew Richardson. “It has been a great way to help raise money for local animal rescues the past couple of years, both of which won awards at the state level, so we’re excited to bring it back for a third year.”

The contest is simple: Owners submit photos of their pets (photos should have no more than two pets) and voters determine who’ll win. The 12 pets with the most votes will be featured in the 2020 calendar.

The contest isn’t just limited to furry pets, either. Cats, dogs, hamsters, goldfish, lizards, birds, snakes and other pets are welcomed to be entered into the competition. Each photo entry costs $10.

Entries will begin being accepted on Monday, Oct. 28 at noon and voting begins the same day. Voting will close on Wednesday, Dec. 4. Each vote is $1.

“The proceeds from the contest benefit local animal groups,” Richardson said. “We are excited to give back.”

Winners will be announced in the Dec. 5 print edition of The Leader.

Last year, “Prissy Lou,” owned by Elaine Shelby, was the cover winner.

Calendars featuring the winners will be $5 and can be pre-ordered during the six-week voting period. They will be available for pick-up at the end of December.

“Don’t wait! Six weeks goes by very quickly and we wouldn’t want you to miss your chance to pick the county’s cutest pet!,” Richardson said.
