Here’s where you can watch fireworks in Tipton County this week

The COVID-19 coronavirus has canceled plans for Independence Day celebrations this year, but two organizations will be hosting shows.

If you choose to partake in the celebrations, please keep in mind the governor’s encouragement for social distancing, cloth masks and handwashing as a means to help prevent the spread of the virus.

You can watch fireworks in Covington on Wednesday and Munford on Thursday.

First Baptist Church Fireworks Celebration

When: Wednesday, July 1; pre-show music starts at 8:30 p.m. and fireworks begin at dusk

Where: On the church grounds, 2105 Hwy. 59 South in Covington

Celebrate Independence

When: Thursday, July 2, 8:30 p.m.

Where: Poplar Park, Munford

How: Viewing suggested from your vehicle at any of the nearby parks, churches or streets. Viewers are encouraged to practice social distancing if outside of their vehicles. There will be no other activities this year – such as music and vendors, as has happened in years past – only fireworks, which will be shot off at approximately 8:50 p.m. The event is sponsored by Celebrate Munford and the City of Munford.
