Each year, The Leader publishes letters to Santa in a special section – and this year will be no different.
To do this, we usually distribute printed forms to local elementary schools and rely on the generosity of local teachers to have their students complete them in the allotted timeframe.
Our teachers are more overwhelmed than ever. The Leader’s elves don’t want to add to their workload, so gathering letters will look a little different this year.
“We want to continue this tradition, because it is one we hold dear, however this year we recognize a different method needs to be utilized,” said managing editor Echo Day. “Our teachers have been giving so much of themselves – their time and their emotional bandwidth are both stretched – and we didn’t want to add more to their already overfilled list of tasks.”
So, the elves are requesting parents and caregivers help their children submit their requests online this year.
If you prefer the printed form, or sending in a letter, that’s still completely acceptable. We do have paper forms available inside Santa’s mailbox, in front of our building, and we can send our usual template via email as well.
Children of all ages are welcome to submit their letters now through Dec. 16 via our form at covingtonleader.com/santa or by picking up/mailing a letter to Santa, c/o The Leader, 111 S. Munford Street, Covington, TN 38019. For emailed forms, please email santa@covingtonleader.com.
Letters will be published in our annual Letters to Santa special section on Thursday, Dec. 22.
