Tipton County’s confirmed cases continues to grow as expected, the statistics provided by the Tennessee Department of Health showed Monday afternoon.

Regionally
The numbers show, of its rural neighbors, Tipton is conducting more testing than other counties in West Tennessee.
At 10.4 percent, Tipton County has the highest percentage of confirmed cases in the region. That is higher than even Shelby County.
According to its health department, Shelby County has conducted 8,915 tests as of April 6 with 789 positives, which is 8.13 percent (or 91.8 negative).
Behind Tipton’s 311 tests, Fayette has tested 198 and Dyer 125. They have 9.59 percent and 6.72 percent confirmed cases, respectively. Madison County, which includes the City of Jackson, has only 2.24 percent confirmed cases per capita.
Statewide
More than 47,350 Tennesseans have been tested, with 3,802 positives and 65 deaths (13 of those in Shelby County). At least 352 people across the state have been hospitalized at some point during infection and 356 people have recovered.
Statewide, 7.43 percent of tests result in a positive diagnosis for COVID-19.
Though population centers like Shelby and Davidson counties lead the state in number of confirmed cases, they do not lead in cases per capita.
Data for April 6 shows Sumner County leads with 20.85 cases per 10,000 people. Rounding out the top 10 are Trousdale (13.98), Davidson (13.07), Williamson (12.83), Grundy (10.95), Robertson (9.05), Wilson (8.51), Shelby (8.26), Putnam (7.60) and Marion (7.08).
Tipton County was ranked in the top 10 last week but fell to 12th on Sunday and 13th on Monday with 5.89.
Tennessee has 5.97 confirmed cases per 10,000 residents. There are still eight counties with no confirmed cases.
