Beginning Monday, March 23, The Leader will begin offering curbside and delivery service of its print publication to senior citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During this time of crisis we’re taking precautions to limit exposure to the public. Limiting our walk-in traffic will help us with necessary precautions to limit exposure for our staff members,” said publisher Matthew Richardson.
The office will be closed to the public, but the paper’s operations will otherwise continue as normal.
The Leader has many consumers who visit each week when the paper is published, to pick up copies of new issues, as well as many who purchase the paper at one of our rack or dealer locations.
“We know many of our readers who purchase single copies each week are in the high-risk categories. We want them to stay home and stay safe but still enjoy reading the paper as they’ve done all of these years.”
Curbside pickup will be offered to customers who want to drive to the office, which is located at 111 S. Munford Street in Covington. Please call ahead (901-476-7116) to let a member of the staff know you’ll be stopping by.
Delivery is available on Thursday, the day new print issues are published each week, for readers over the age of 60. To be added to the list, please call 901-476-7116 no later than Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Additionally, readers who purchase single copies should consider purchasing a subscription. In-county subscriptions are $48, which is a $17 savings annually compared to purchasing single copies. Subscribers also receive copies of our award-winning magazines – like the upcoming Discover Tipton County and Children’s Classic – free as added benefits.
Classified advertising, story suggestions and other business may be conducted via email, phone or by appointment only.
“We’re still open for business, but we need to make sure we’re limiting our contact with the public to keep our staff safe and healthy,” Richardson said. “We do want to let our readers know we appreciate their business, especially during this time of uncertainty, and we’re dedicated to keeping the community informed about the coronavirus and its local effects on our healthcare industry, governmental operations, schools, businesses and more.”
