Don’t miss ‘The Spongebob Musical’ at Tipton Rosemark Academy

The Tipton Rosemark Academy Fine Arts Department invites you to the undersea world of Bikini Bottom, where an unlikely trio of friends set out to save their friends and neighbors from imminent doom.

You will be entertained by a high-energy cast and a one-of-a-kind musical event featuring a soundtrack of original songs written by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, T. I., and a song by David Bowie.  

This remarkable cast was announced in January and has fully rehearsed and prepared this show in only six weeks. They are proud to perform this production for consideration for the Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards. 

Alongside the talented students who star in the show, there are also artistic design and technical elements that were created entirely by students.

The SpongeBob Musical is under the direction of Lalania Vaughn, who has directed more than 60 performances under her leadership at TRA. She is joined in this show by assistant director Rachel Thomas, who is a 2015 graduate from TRA. Many members of the production staff are also alumni of the school who return to give back to the TRA theatre legacy.

Tipton Rosemark Academy is a proud participant in the Orpheum High School Musical Theatre Awards, a program which supports, promotes, and celebrates high school musical theatre throughout the Mid-South.

The program aims to provide access to arts education, create opportunities for self-expression, develop relationships between schools and the Orpheum, encourage collaboration, enhance excellence, build community, and instill a lifelong passion for the arts.

Show times are Tuesday, March 21st through Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. and an afternoon performance on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are available in advance by visiting the links on both the Tipton Rosemark Academy website and the Tipton Rosemark Fine Arts Facebook page. Tickets can also be purchased at the door; the cost is $15 for adults and $10 for students.
