The Munford Lady Cougar offense has been on fire lately, scoring double-digit runs its last four games.
That trend continued Thursday night at home vs. Haywood in a key District 14-AAA game.
Lexi Billings hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and it was all Munford (8-3 overall, 1-1 district) the rest of the way in a 16-0 win that ended after three innings.
Claire Geiger was 3 for 3 with an RBI triple and Kyleigh Pullen, Izzy Jones and Katelyn Daugherty each doubled for the Lady Cougars, who scored six times in the first inning, five in the second and five in the third. Jordan Wilson and Lacey Hummelstine each added two singles.
Haywood had no answer for Pullen, who struck out three, walked none and allowed just two hits over three innings to pick up the win.
Wednesday’s non-district game at Bartlett played out similarly as Munford scored 11 runs in the first inning en route to a 16-2 win.
Lexi Billings was the offensive standout in this one with three doubles and three RBIs. Shelby Kendrick, Jones and Geiger each had two RBIs and Chloe Lowery, Wilson and Daugherty each had two hits.
Billings struck out five and allowed five hits over five innings to pick up the win.
