Library Fund-Raising Calendar
The Chester County Library Fund-Raising Board is planning to publish a calendar, “2014: A Celebration of Our Community” that features historic local places of interest. The Court House, Sagamore Lodge at Chickasaw, the Liza Smith House and some of our beautiful farmland are just a few of the beloved places particular to our county that will be included. The calendar is $15 and birthdays and anniversaries may be added for $1 each. Contact the library at 989-4673 to order a calendar and/or include a loved one’s birthday or anniversary. All proceeds will go toward the library’s building fund. Help us grow!
Business After Hours July 25
Invite your family, friends and co-workers to join you from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, to attend Business after Hours at Southern Oaks Assisted Living.
Fish fry fundraiser to benefit MSYC July 27
Mark your calendars. The annual Mid-South Youth Camp Fish Fry is set for Saturday, July 27. The event, sponsored by the MSYC Advisory Board, will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the campsite, located on Hwy 45 north of Henderson.
For $10, attendees will be served a meal including fish or chicken, fries, hushpuppies, slaw, homemade dessert and a drink. A drive-thru option will be available this year for those wanting a plate to go. Proceeds will benefit MSYC which has been impacting the lives of young people for 50 years. Campers keep coming back every summer for a spiritually uplifting week of classes and devotionals, as well as team sports and other recreational activities.
Life Recovery fund raiser July 27
Klassic Images, 130 South Washington, is hosting an all day Life recovery fund raiser. Monies from sales, tanning, supplies, hair and nails will be donated to Dr. Roger Penn at First Methodist for Life Recovery Counseling service. Please come out and support your community.

Morris Reunion July 28
The Morris Reunion will meet Sunday, July 28 at the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3655 Talley Store Rd, Henderson. The family of William Thomas (Pa Bill) Morris and wife will be having a potluck lunch for noon and visitation. Bring yourself, food and pictures of article of the family. See you THERE!!!

CCHS class of 1946 reunion Aug. 3
The Chester County High School class of 1946 will enjoy their 67th class reunion at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Whiskers Catfish House.
Annual Back-2-School Fest Aug. 10
The free annual Back-2-School Fest will be from 9 a.m. until noon Aug. 10 at the National Guard Armory. This is for ALL Chester County students, grades kindergarten through grade 12. There will be standard school supplies (pens, pencils, paper and glue). They will also have backpacks available if you need one. A School Uniform Exchange will be set up where you can bring the clothes your child has outgrown and exchange them for a different size. You can also receive a shirt and pair of pants even if you do not have clothes to exchange. (*But exchange of clothes is preferred.) Clothes for exchange must be in good shape and follow school guidelines. If there are no sizes that you need, you can get a voucher to come back at a later date as they receive more clothes. There will also be family resource agencies with information about ways they can assist your family.
If you need supplies, backpacks or uniforms, this FEST is for YOU! Proof of Chester County residency will be required (Drivers license, utility bill). For more information call Rick at 989-5228. This event is sponsored by the Chester County Community Advisory Board and area churches and businesses.
CCHS Class of 1988 class reunion Aug. 17
The Chester County High School class of 1988 class will have their 25th year class reunion Aug. 17 at All Suites Hotel in Jackson. For more information, call Debbie Clayton Lofton at 989-2541.
“Welcome Home” at Freed-Hardeman Aug. 17
Freed-Hardeman is again hosting “Welcome Home” on Saturday, Aug. 17. The annual campus ‘move-in day’ for around 400 students is enhanced with a welcome party for new students and their families. Highlighted will be FHU organizations and services offered for freshmen and new students, and an area where local businesses and Chamber members can set up tables and displays to advertise their business or service.
There will be music and a festive atmosphere, including giveaways for new students and family members. From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. there will be a free cook-out for the guests in the Commons area.
Miss BBQ Festival Pageant Sept. 7
The 2013 “Miss BBQ Festival Pageant” will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Chester County Middle School – Williams Auditorium. Contestants will be notified by phone of time for their category mid-week of Sept. 1. This event is sponsored by Clayton Bank & Trust. All proceeds go to benefit the Chester County Relay for Life. Royalty: Queen, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up. A photographer will be available at the pageant. A $20 (non-refundable) fee and entry form are due by Aug. 30, with a $5 late fee imposed on entry forms received after Aug. 30. Beene reunion July 28
It’s time for the Beene family reunion Sunday, July 28 at the Finger Church of Christ fellowship hall. Friends and family are invited to bring a covered dish and join us. At around 12:30 p.m. the meal will be served.
Chester County – Glendale
Glendale Community Homecoming July 27
The Glendale Community Center will celebrate its Homecoming at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27. They will serve a barbeque lunch with trimmings and homemade desserts.
