State losses conclude Dixie seasons

The local Dixie baseball and softball seasons came to a close over the weekend when the two remaining teams in tournament competition were eliminated in state tournaments.
Bitter-sweet for AAA
Chester County’s trip to the Dixie Youth AAA, age 9-10, state tournament in Sweetwater included two wins and two loses.
CC began the event with a loss July 18 to Whitehouse, but returned Friday to eliminate Halls. Saturday, CC sent Dickson home, before a late Saturday loss to Lexington.
As of Monday, teams still in contention for the state title included undefeated Signal Mountain against Lexington, as well as Whitehouse and Savannah.
Zoners win twice at state
Chester County won twice last weekend at the Dixie Youth age 11-12 Ozone State baseball tournament at Dyersburg.
CC opened the event July 18 with a win over Fairview and backed it up with a victory Friday over Lookout Mountain.
However, Summertown handed Chester County its first defeat of the event with a win on Saturday, and Lebanon American League sent CC packing late Sunday.
As of Monday morning the four remaining teams in the tournament included one that CC beat, plus the two they lost to. Summertown was unbeaten and playing Lebanon American, with Lookout Mountain and Lebanon National.
