Spring Fling begins Tuesday for Munford, TRA

After taking care of business last week, three area teams will be heading to the Spring Fling state championships this week in Murfreesboro. 

Munford's softball team edged Houston 2-1 in eight innings Saturday afternoon at home to punch their ticket to the Class AAA state tournament for the fourth straight season. 

Tipton-Rosemark's baseball and softball teams hosted best-of-three sub-state series on Thursday, and both teams came up with two-game sweeps to advance to the DII-A state tournament. 

TRA's baseball team beat Davidson Academy 2-1 in the first game and 7-2 in the second. 

The Lady Rebels beat Friendship Christian 2-1 and 5-1 to advance to Murfreesboro. 

Munford plays Dickson County on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in its tournament opener. 

The Lady Rebels will play Ezell-Hardin on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in game two of the DII-A bracket. 

Tipton-Rosemark's baseball team opens up tournament play on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Knoxville Webb at LaVergne High School.
