Special Needs wraps up season

Special Needs athlete Darren “Boomer” Taylor launches a home run during the season finale recently in Selmer.

Special Needs Athletics in Selmer recently wrapped up its season in patriotic style at Patriotic Park in Selmer. The league serves athletes from McNairy, Chester and Hardin Counties.
The field was decorated with red, white and blue ribbons with balloons and flags flying.
Guests from Bumpus Harley Davidson, as well as the Golden Circle Hog Chapter, encircled the field with their bikes, and the riders volunteered for the evening, cheering and guiding the athletes as they rounded the bases. Both athletes and volunteers had an enjoyable evening.
Trophies were presented and photos made of the athletes and volunteers.
Plans are already underway for the fall baseball program. SNA sends their thanks to the sponsors, vendors and volunteers. Also, mini-golf is currently being offered in Jackson at Casey Jones Village for the next several weeks, and anyone with specials needs from age 4 to adult is eligible to participate.
For more information, contact Linda Taylor at 610-7557.
