Six inducted into Hall of Fame

It was an historic night in Covington Tuesday as the first six inductees into the Tipton County Sports Hall of Fame were honored at Covington’s meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
Minnie Bommer and other aldermen beamed with pride as the accomplishments of the first inductees into the Tipton County Sports Hall of Fame were listed.
The five living inductees – Tucker Ashford, Earl Billings, Bobby Davie, Johnnie Jones and Adrian Nathaniel – each accepted their awards as their families and Covington city employees cheered them on.
Harvey Kendrick, who played with the 1923 New York Yankees with well-known player Babe Ruth, was posthumously honored.
Each year, up to six athletes will be chosen for induction.
