Here's a look at where Brighton, Covington and Munford were last year, and how things are going now with four regular seasons games left.
For a while last Wednesday, at the WillowBrook Golf Club course in Manchester, it looked like Brighton junior Aubree Jones was in excellent position to grab her third straight Class AAA state title.
The Lady Cardinals wore pink jerseys and Covington wore black jerseys with pink lettering in a game that was held to promote breast cancer awareness. The proceeds from the game, which was well-attended, went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Munford rushed for 489 yards and pulled away in the third quarter for a 56-21 Region 8-5A win at home.
Brighton (5-1 overall, 2-1 Region 8-5A) moved into a four-way tie for second place with Kirby, Central and Southwind with the win. The top four teams in the region make the playoffs.
