Muller hired as county director of UT-Extension

The UT Extension Office in Tipton County recently welcomed Becky Muller to the staff as the new county director and agricultural extension agent for the county.

She has more than 12 years of experience working for extension between Alabama and Tennessee and holds two degrees from Auburn University, a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and a Master of Science in Horticulture.

Muller has served the last eight years in Shelby County as the agricultural agent with responsibilities in row crops, livestock and forages, pond management and coordinating the disaster animal response team in the county.  She will be working along those same lines in Tipton County, as well as working with the Tipton County master gardeners and her new duties as county director.

She offers programs such as row crop production meetings, private applicator re-certifications, master beef classes, beef quality assurance classes, master horse classes, small farm management classes, disaster preparedness on the farm and pond management classes.

The office can help with soil testing, forage testing and nematode sampling in production fields.

Stop by the extension office to see her with any questions, concerns or comments you might have, and look for some of her upcoming programs.  She has several e-mail lists and sends pertinent information to such as upcoming meetings, timely information for row crop production and livestock and forage production.

The office also has a Facebook page to see what the office and its staff are working on: www.facebook.com/pages/UT-Extension-Tipton-County.

She resides in Millington with her husband Kevin and her four-year-old daughter Sophie.  She is a horse person and rides her two horses when she can.

“I am very excited about this new step in my career and look forward to getting to know the community and making new relationships here,” Muller said.

She can be reached at 901-476-0231 or beckymuller@utk.edu.

UT Extension offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.
