The mother of a child found in a ditch Monday morning has been located after deputies frantically searched for adults familiar with him.
Tipton County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Donna Turner said the child was found standing in a ditch of water near Jamestown and Detroit roads. He was cold and wet, but otherwise uninjured, and taken to Baptist-Tipton for exposure.
His mother was found half a mile away.
“I am thankful that the crew located the child and was in the area checking the drainage ditches," Sheriff Pancho Chumley saud. "The investigation is in the initial stages of determining what happened. Our focus is the child’s safety and to use every resource to prevent this from occurring again in this home.
