The community extends sympathy to the family and friends of James Everett Sheffield (6-26-1934 to 7-1-2013). He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank everyone who helped provide the meal at Hickory Corner Community Center.
The community also extends sympathy to the family and friends of Hollis Wildon Lee (1-12-1943 – 7-13-2013).
Remember these in prayer: William Maness, Rita Maness, little Ben Clayton, Janice Lynch, Ronnie Anderson, Jim McCash, Larry Beshires and others who are sick. God knows every problem and every need.
There will be a benefit for Ronnie Anderson at the Hickory Corner Community Center beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. Barbeque chicken plates will be sold for $8 and will also include baked beans, potato salad, slaw, dessert and tea. A $100 gift card will be given away, and tickets are only $1. You do not have to be present to win. Tim Young and the Good Times Band will be performing. Also, cakes will be auctioned off. If you would like to donate any items for the auction or buy tickets for the meal or gift card, call Billy Maness at 608-2908, Vickie Beshires at 989-2578 or Amy Frye at 435-1079.
Update on Danny and Vickie Weaver who were involved in an auto accident in Belize. Vickie has been airlifted to a hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She is showing some improvement, but still has a long road of recovery ahead. Danny, her husband, reports to his mother, Evelyn Weaver, that plans are being made to transport Vickie to a rehab hospital in Springfield, Mo., in a few weeks, as that is where her daughter, Jessica, lives. Keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
We enjoyed a visit from our daughter, Cindy, her husband Tim, and Makenzie of Pekin, Ill., last week. One day was a fun day to shop, another day we froze corn and canned tomatoes. Our granddaughter is sweet 16, and so much fun to be with. On this visit we got out the old black and white photos and came across one of Cindy about 3 years old, all dressed up for Easter with her white gloves and patent leather shoes, and her two older brothers all dressed up and smiling. Looking through the photos, we laughed and almost cried as some were funny and some made us sad as they are no longer with us. How fast the years have gone by, but how blessed we are to have the family we have been given.
Happy birthday wishes go to Bethany Blackstock on July 13; Kyle Blackstock on July 14; Erma Dean Clayton on July 15; Jo Ellen Garner on July 17; Tim Clayton and Jackie Weaver on July 19; Bryan Maness and Debbie Hames on July 21; Dana Shores on July 22; Brenda Crouse on July 23; Wendell Dye on July 24; Beth Hearn on July 27; Stella Geary, Sonya Newborn and Leonard Morris on July 28; Geney Clayton on July 29; and Scott Kesler and Nancy Patterson on July 27.
