Saturday, July 19, the Covington- Tipton County Chamber of Commerce will host “Art on the Square”  featuring art vendors, live music, children’s activities and sidewalk chalk art.

The event, which takes place on the historic square in Covington, is in its first year. Robin Sealy, of the Covington- Tipton County Chamber of Commerce, said she hopes this becomes an annual event.

“We have so many exceptional artists in Tipton County and we at the chamber are excited to have another opportunity to showcase our local talent,” said Sealy. “This will be a fun way to learn another aspect of our community.”

According to Sealy, art vendors will include paintings, photography, pottery and jewelry; live music will feature Dixie Jam, Bobby O’Neal, David Hawkins and Larry Raspberry and the Highsteppers; and children’s activities will include sidewalk chalk drawing and face-painting.

Admission to this family-friendly event is free with free parking.

If you are interested in participating in the chalk art creation, you can check in at the Covington Tipton County Chamber of Commerce office at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.

"We are very excited about the response so far to this event," Sealy said.  "We have artists from Memphis, Collierville, and Jackson as well as several of our local artists."

Sidewalk chalk artists are invited to begin their art at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The event is from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m
