January 21-24

Social studies textbooks being considered for the six-year period beginning July 1, 2014 will be on display at the Tipton County Schools Media and Technology Center (295 West Kenwood Ave., Brighton) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. 


January 31

February 2

A black history program titled Incredible Favor will be held at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Chapel M.B. Church in Drummonds. Featured guests will be the St. Paul Mass Choir, saxophonist Tommy Curry, St. Luke Praise Team and The Apppointed. The  devotion will be held by Men of Vision and Minnie Bommer will emcee the event. February 15

A concert titled "A Nigh of Country Music" will be held at the Ruffin Theater in Covington at 7 p.m. Featuring David Bradley, Vanessa Winter, Mike Watkins and Southern Music Project, the concert will benefit the Carl Perkins Center in Covington. Tickets are $10. Call 476-1515 for more information. 



Barrie Foster teaches adult watercolor classes at the Baker Center in Millington. Beginning class is Wednesday, 2 to 4 p.m. and intermediate class is Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m.  Classes are $10 each and there is no drawing! Call 901-212-7890 for more information.


Barbara Flowers McBride teaches painting/art classes for adults and children from her studio in Covington. Weekly classes are set to student’s age/skill level. Call 901-237-4006 for pricing, scheduling and more information. 


The Faith That Works reading program, which has a goal of increasing reading comprehension and speed through faith and secular resources, needs volunteers to instruct participants ages 5-18. The program meets every Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Covington Housing Authority community building, located at 702 Jackson St. Call 901-652-2765 for more information. 


The Tipton County Dunham Lodge #150 F&AM, located at 113 E. Washington St. in Covington, holds its monthly meeting on the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is at 6 p.m. and is open to friends and family. Practice is every Monday at 7 p.m. Call 901-490-2753 for more information.


Helping Hands meets the first Thursday of each month at the home of Christine and Larry Knight, 253 Elm Grove Rd. in Burlison. 


Ransomed Riders Chapter of CMA meets the fourth Monday of each month at Los Reyes Mexican Restaurant in Atoka. Meal at 6 p.m., meeting at 7 p.m. For more information call Phil Cathey at 388-8145.


The Covington Sportsplex offers the following classes: step, stabilizer, Zumba and Vinyasa yoga.  For more information call 476-3734. 


Scrapbooking the 3rd Friday of every month from 6 - 11p.m. at Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church, 1496 Munford Ave, Munford.  $5/snack, drink and door prize. Student support services are provided free! Call Barb Frison 837-6587 for table space.
