CHS student named all star

Aryn Mullins, a student at Covington High School, has been selected for the 2013 All Star Invitational Marching Band.

The All Star Invitational Marching Band unites talented performers from around the country by offering them the opportunity to showcase their skills at a national marching event and interact with a team of nationally recognized marching directors. Participation in the All Star Invitational Marching Band is limited to the finest high school performers from across North America.

Aryn auditioned for the All Star Band and was accepted after a review by the Selection Review Board. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in her application and audition videos. Aryn will join other performers from the United States for two performances at one of the biggest games in college football, the Discover Orange Bowl.

Aryn studies music with Justin Condron and is a member of CHS Marching Band and Concert Band. All Stars will come together for six days in Florida to practice and prepare for the performances. Aryn will work with the nation’s leading marching band directors and perform in the Orange Bowl.

The 2013 directors include Dr. Kenneth Dye (Director of Bands, University of Notre Dame), Barry Bernhardt (Director of Bands, Florida International University), James Hudson (Marching Band Director, Arizona State University), Norm Ruebling (acclaimed percussion educator) and Wes Cartwright.
