Brighton High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is busy volunteering with Porter-Leath’s head start.

Each year, the BHS FCCLA works with the head start program in Memphis. The program offers top quality preschool education for the highest at-risk children of Shelby County. Education and support are given to the families and children free of charge.

The BHS FCCLA visits Porter-Leath throughout the school year and raises money for the toy truck program at Christmas time. This year, the chapter raised $600 for the program. During visits to Porter-Leath, members work in classrooms with teachers and participate in hosting fall carnivals, valentine festivals, and science fairs.

Throughout the month of February, members of the BHS FCCLA are collecting children’s books to take to Porter-Leath.

If you would like to make book donations, please bring them to BHS.
