Tipton County Schools had a strong showing in this year’s 2012-13 state-issued report card, with most notably, Atoka Elementary scoring all As in TCAP Academic Achievement and all As in Value-Added Growth.

Dr. John Combs, Director of Instruction for Tipton County Schools, said, "We are extremely proud of the students, parents and educators in Tipton County for the great results on the 2012-13 state issued report card. As a district, we received all A's and B's in both achievement and value-added. These scores went up from the previous year's numbers in each core subject.”

This is the first year Atoka Elementary has reached such outstanding success.

“Atoka Elementary's report card was also up from their previous year with A's in every core subject in both achievement and value-added," said Combs.

The school is led by Dr. Rebekah Byrd, who has been on the Atoka Elementary faculty since the school opened in 2008, serving for three years as assistant principal and the last three as principal.

“It’s because of the hard work of the teachers and the students,” said Byrd. “The teachers used the assessment data to guide instruction in their classes and maximized instruction time by looking at scheduling. The students have been diligent in preparation. I’m extremely proud of our school and I’m expecting another successful year.”
