Community Leaders were invited to Atoka Elementary School to read to students during American Education Week, Nov. 18-22.
The following guest readers participated in the annual event: Lily Stallings, Patriot Bank; Sarah Crocker, Brighton Alderman and Well's Kitchen; Dr. Jayson Cannon, Cannon Chiropractic; Linda Wright, retired teacher; Gloria Treadwell, retired school administrator; Dr. Thomas Carruthers and Ruben Cantu, Munford/Atoka Fire Department; Delyn Matthews, retired nurse; Marcus Heaston,  Covington High School Principal; James Sneed, County Commissioner; Chief Donna Turner and Officer Chris Payne with K-9 Kira, Tipton County Sheriff's Office; Heather Duncan, First State Bank Atoka; Nathaniel Taylor, First Baptist Church Atoka; Officer Bill Pinkert, Atoka Police Department; Serena White, ATES parent; Carrie Shigley, ATES PTO President; and from the Tipton County Board of Education: Dr. Bubby Bibb, Dr. John Combs, Dr. Charlotte Fisher, Betty Glass, Peggy Murdock, Glenn Turner, Mary Haywood, and Daryl Walker (also Town of Atoka mayor).
